After one of the most challenging first years in business for many, SJ Establishment – Award Winning Prospect Hairdressing salon, has not only survived but thrived over it’s first 12 months.
With six Award nominations since opening, including Australian Colourist of the Year, Australian Newcomer Salon Business of the Year, Australian Best New Salon Design and Australian Best Customer Care Award, SJ Establishment has cemented their place in the industry.
The salon was designed around the ultimate client journey. With a team of Adelaide’s best colourists, creative stylists and innovative young guns, they give you the best of their Hairdressing knowledge and of course, ultimate experience.
With relaxation and functionality at the heart. Whether you‘re arriving to have some down time and enjoy being pampered, or on a mission to catch up on work whilst your colour is working it’s magic, the Zen Table and private dimly lit basin area has everything you need.
Being the first salon in Adelaide to include the digital mirror technology – PIIQ, was a huge success, seeing many locals rush in to experience the unique consultation.
Another innovative feature of the space, is the changing Art on the walls by 11 talented Local Artists over the past year. With seven pieces sold, now featuring in clients homes and offices across Adelaide.
SJ’s leaped onto Prospect Road not only to do amazing hair, but hosting eight exciting community events held at the salon across the last year, with an opening extravaganza, brush parties – where local artists lead a painting night with wine and fun themes, SALA Events, fundraisers, Tourrific Prospect Street Party and becoming an Adelaide Fringe Venue.
The last few months have been hard for many small businesses, hairdressers included with their many restrictions. SJ’s made the decision to close for three days, to transform their space into a positive safety bubble for their many clients who visited during such unknown times. Fully equipped with PPE, spaced out stations, plenty of time for thorough cleaning and opening extra hours, they have managed to look after their clients the whole way through.
Director Sam James, four times SA Hairdresser of The Year said, “I don’t think it was the hair they were desperate for during that hectic first six weeks, for many it was extremely hard times, with health worries, work changes, job loss, income loss, added pressure of kids at home 24/7 and I know many just needed us and a cry. We did the same great hair, just differently whilst being a shoulder to cry on for many and I couldn’t be more proud of my team.”
Onward and upward for SJ Establishment with the salon now hiring to grow their team, and back working on new exciting events. There are still some restrictions, but they are very excited to be taking new clients again.
